A native of Manchester, N.H., Mrs. Toher was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. After graduating from Hesser Business College she spent her 52-year career supporting American troops: First in 1941- 1945 with the U.S. Treasury promoting U.S. Savings Bonds for World War II and then over the following decades buying parts and supplies for the military at both private facilities and military bases.
Mrs. Toher was as generous as she was persevering and creative. She loved making beautiful gifts for her family and friends: crocheted afghans, pressed flower art, wreaths, artistic ceramics, watercolors and clothing. She also honored every birthday and anniversary in her very large extended family.
After retiring at 72 she sewed clothes for preemie babies and spent the rest of her life as an active volunteer. When she moved in 2001 to Westminster Canterbury, a retirement community, for 16 years she ran the popular Bingo operation which generated thousands of dollars for the Westminster Foundation to financially assist other residents. She also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat and Crochet clubs and was an avid Canasta player.
