Pauline Jones Sherrill

A native of Sussex County, Virginia, Pauline was preceded in death by her parents George William Jones and Evelyn Conrad Jones, her husband of 70 years, John Thomas Sherrill, and sister Viola Griffin.

Pauline graduated co-valedictorian from Waverly High in 1946. She received her nursing degree from Medical College of Virginia in 1949 and her Masters in Nursing in 1975. She served as a registered nurse in Richmond for over 40 years at a number of hospitals including MCV and Chippenham, where she was the first Director of Nursing. She also taught nursing at Reynolds Community College.

Pauline was an active member of Beulah Methodist Church and her volunteer work included providing flu vaccinations and Meals on Wheels. She loved family gatherings, playing bridge, world travel, and summer fun at the beach cottage. She and John moved to Virginia Beach in 2018 and joined Lynnhaven Colony United Church of Christ.

Survivors include her son Tom Sherrill Jr.(Barbie), grandson John Sherrill III, sisters Ruth Harrup and Gayle Pittman, brother Bill Jones, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held May 3, 2026, 2 pm, at Lynnhaven Colony United Church of Christ, 2217 W Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA.
