With profound sadness we announce the passing of Janet Kay Crittenden, our beloved Mother and friend to all whose lives she touched on May 1, 2021 in Princess Anne hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Jan was born in LaPorte, Indiana to Fredrick and Rose Pelis. She is leaves behind her three children, James (Jackie) Lawrence, Wendi (Bob) Davidson & Shanin Clayton. 6 grandchildren; Jasmine Nichole & James Brandon, Amanda Kay & Jessica Jordan, and Margaret Grace & Jack Clayton. 6 Great-grandchildren; James Carter, Jaylynn Marie, Jacqueline Grace, Cali Nichole, Jocelyn Adare, Evelyn Olivia, and Hannah Simone. And two sisters; Joyce Wright & Ellen Jean King.
Janet lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker, and world traveler. She loved all things ocean, fishing, boating or just sitting in the sand watching the sunset on the horizon.
She was beyond proud of her brothers and son for their service in the US military. And took any opportunity to brag on those amazing men. Quality time in the kitchen passing on her gift for home cooking and allusive “recipes” was some of her favorite times with the grandkids.
She took every opportunity to encourage her grand/children to reach high, continue learning and not be afraid to pursue what makes their heart grow. Family was her greatest treasure, so incredible proud of and loved unconditionally each and every one of her “babies”.
A Celebration of Life will be held at future date as her ashes are committed to the deep blue ocean waters off the coast of Florida where she always found peace and solace.
In leu of flowers, it would be an honor to Janet’s love and respect of our military if you choose to donate to Wounded Warrior Project or a Veteran’s suicide prevention program.
Mom will be missed and forever in our hearts.
