Gloria Day White

Born January 26, 1935, in Wayne, New York. Gloria grew up in upstate New York where she graduated from Hammondsport Central School High School. From there, she went on to Keuka College, in Keuka Park, New York where she graduated with her RN in nursing.

Gloria loved her family, nursing, caring for family and friends. After her husband, Roger died, she moved into Westminster Canterbury on the Bay where she immersed herself in friends, playing cards and helping others.

Gloria was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church for over 50 years. She was involved in Sunday School, Vacation Bible school as well as the Alter Guild for many years. She loved the community and her many friends. When she moved to Westminster Canterbury, she became involved in the church and continued with the Alter Guild.

In her early nursing career, she worked in Geneva, New York, Chicago, Illinois and then in Norfolk, Virginia. She worked at Norfolk General and later at Dr. Rogers Pediatrician’s Office.

Gloria was often described as kind, loving, helpful, and caring. She loved being with family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roger Wilson White, parents, Georgana Guerin Day and Lloyd C. Day; her brothers Robert Metz, James Day, Donald Day and Edwin Day. She is survived by her children, Laura Bondurant {Elliott}, Elaine Smetts {Thomas), Douglas White (Kim Cyr), grandchildren Jillian Woycik (Benjamin), Taylor Bondurant, Devin White (Chloe), Melissa Smetts (Thaddeus Kimbrel), Cabell Harvey (Chase), Madison Gammon (Austin), Marshall White, great-grandchildren, Jason, Bayleigh, Cole, Elliott, and Jordan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Toni Day, several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 5181 Singleton Way, Va Beach, Va 23462-4241 on Monday, April 13th at 10:00.
