Her adult life took her to Long Beach, California; Charleston, South Carolina; and to Virginia Beach, Virginia where she lived for more than sixty years. Betty enjoyed gardening. It was common for her to have tomato plants, cucumber vines, green onions, and an assortment of other vegetables every summer. She loved to cook and jazzed up dishes with lots of garlic and onions. She enjoyed a variety of music, from toe tapping country to rock ‘n roll. She was scrapbooking before it became popular. For them, she clipped ads of what are now nostalgic and vintage, comic strips, Hollywood celebrities and strange but true articles.
She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles. Her favorite color was orange and yellow a close second. She loved daisies and the fragrance of gardenias. In her later years, Betty was a Sunday School teacher for more than 20 years at London Bridge Baptist Church. She was a member of the Echos Choir and enjoyed singing for the congregation and at retirement homes. Elizabeth’s unique talent that brought laughter was her ability to say the alphabet backwards: Z, Y, X, W, V, U, T, S, R, Q, P, O, N, M, L, K, J, I, H, G, F, E, D, C, B, A
