William “Bill” McFarland of The Villages passed away on Thursday May 29, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born on June 15, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY where he grew up before moving to Bellmore, NY. Raised his family in Massapequa NY while spending time in Montauk NY and became a Floridian in 1981 where he lived in Lighthouse Point, Lower Matecumbe in the Keys , Boca Raton and The Villages.
William McFarland was a lifelong entrepreneur, with long and successful careers at Clarklift of New York and more than 20 years as a respected yacht broker. He was a great storyteller, known for his warmth, humor, and a lifetime passion for boats and fishing, billiards, and—most of all—his family and friends.
He passed his visionary attitude, drive, work ethic and street smarts to his kids. He worked hard so his children could be the first McFarlands to go to College.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen D. McFarland, and his parents, William and Helen McFarland.
William is survived by his devoted partner, Toni DeLuca; his children, Kelley and Bill Sarantis, and Jay and Sonda McFarland; his grandchildren, Athena and Ryan Santee, Lindsey McFarland, and Dylan McFarland; and his great-grandson, Hayden Santee.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Truman Recreation Center on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in William’s memory to Tunnels to Towers, an organization close to his heart.
