Scott was born in Bay Ridge hospital in Brooklyn, New York (1949) to Robert and Lillian (Gwen) Larsen. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, his daughter Kimberly Vetrano, 2 step children- Shawna Reinhardt and Jason Reynolds, and 5 grandchildren- Kaylee and Matthew Vetrano and Brianne, Oliver and Nash Reinhardt, and sons-in-law, Rob Vetrano and Bret Reinhardt.
Scott attended schools in Wappingers Falls area. He attended elementary school in James S. Evans school, junior high school in Wappingers Central, and graduated from RC Ketcham High School in 1967. After completing his tour in the US Army, he graduated from Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie with an AA in Computer Science.
Scott spent most of his life in New York, except for a 3 year tour in the US Army where he attended several electronics schools in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey and Sheppard Air Force base in Texas. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan where he worked on the US Army's electronic telephone system (Autovon). He was honorably discharged in 1972 at the rank of SP/5 (E5).
He was employed by IBM, in Poughkeepsie, from 1978 until 2011. He worked for three years as a computer operator on third shift at Poughkeepsie site. Then he became a computer programmer, supporting the internal accounting customers, and later an advisory programmer, until his forced retirement.
Scott loved to travel. This included over 50 trips from New York to England where he would spend time with his great aunt in a small town in Wales, called Pembroke. He traveled around the UK visiting other family members. He also traveled to Hawaii over 20 times. He so enjoyed the sunshine and spent many hours watching his Army friend's children grow up from little babies to adults with children of their own. His favorite island was Kauai. He also flew around the world one year visiting several countries. Australia was his favorite.
For the last nine years he traveled with his wonderful wife, who has Parkinson's, but was still able to travel with him. They enjoyed many trips to Hawaii and the UK. They moved to The Villages, Florida in 2016 where they developed a wonderful relationship with the Parkinson's support group. Scott would love to go out in his golf card and just ride around exploring all The Villages had to offer.
Scott wished to be cremated.
