She was born on August 23, 1944, in Lynn, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Raymond A. Brown and Pearl (Haseltine) (Brown) Newhall. She attended Lynn Classical High School. She went on to graduate from the North Shore Community College with a degree in Physical Therapy (PTA). She was the eldest of eight children. She is survived by her companion Edward McCarthy, her three children, William Gilmore Jr., Deborah McLaughlin, and Julie Mahoney; her grandchildren Tyler Webb, Grady McLaughlin, Nikolai Gilmore and Amelia Gilmore; her sisters Donna Brown, Helen Brown, Lisa Aster and brother Ralph Newhall; as well as nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her loving brother Raymond Brown and nephew Christopher Brown.
Up until her death she loved living In Florida, except for the thunderstorms and the alligators. She enjoyed her home and the community she lived in. She loved the sunshine and planting her flowers and plants on her property and she sure loved to spoil her dogs. She loved to shop. She was like a little girl in a candy store when it came to shopping for clothes and shopping at Home Depot. She enjoyed coming up North to Boston to visit her family very much and eating her favorite foods, Lobster, Chinese food, and Lena’s Italian Subs. She loved it when we came to visit and she would always cook us a favorite dish and then beat us at cards. When she was younger, she loved to paint with oil and acrylic, as she got older, she wanted to get back into it, and she had projects to refurbish her furniture.
All of us share different memories of her and will treasure them. Some of our memories will come back of her when we see or smell her favorite perfume Jungle Gardenia or see her favorite animal a koala bear. One thing that we will miss is being able to have long talks with her. She will be missed by us all but not forgotten.
The family will hold a private service in her honor.
