Michael John Faherty passed away on February 26th, 2024. He was born in New York City on October 12, 1934, and lived in Westchester County, New York and Hamilton Township, New Jersey before moving to Ocala, Florida in 1999.
He is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Nora Faherty, his wife of 57 years Mary Jane (Maureen) Faherty, and his son M. Nicholas Faherty. He is survived by his daughters Laura (Francis) Santitoro (New Jersey) and Elizabeth Kairab (Florida), as well as his brother Vincent (Angela) Faherty (Maine) and his sister Maureen (George) O’Connell (Ohio). He has seven grandchildren, Michael, Haley, Joseph, Alexandra, Hannah, Vincent, and Priya.
He graduated from St. John’s University in Brooklyn, New York and did graduate work at the University of Connecticut. He served in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in 1956. He spent most of his career in auditing, accounting, and credit management at major corporations.
He was involved in the Marion County Literacy Program and was a Minister to the Sick at Queen of Peace Parish. Michael was also a Knight of Columbus (4th Degree).
