John "Marty" Martin Houldsworth

In loving memory of Marty Houldsworth, who transitioned to his heavenly home on May 18, 2026. Marty was a proud member of the United States Army from 1966 – 1969 during the Vietnam War. Fortunately, since he was assigned to the Army Security Agency in the Pacific, he was stationed in Hawaii where he attended the University of Hawaii and played golf while serving his country. He continued his education after being discharged by receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Florida Atlantic University in 1972 and spent over four decades in Human Resources Management in the field of telecommunications.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, caring and supportive uncle, playful great-uncle, and a loyal friend to so many. Marty married the love of his life, Jane Maurer, on March 18, 1972, and they were married for 54 wonderful years. He and his beloved wife shared a lifetime filled with love, laughter, adventures, challenges, travel, and unwavering companionship. Together they built a family rooted in kindness, faith, humor, and cherished memories.

Marty had a true gift for making people laugh. That became his goal for every day of his life. Whether through a quick joke, a funny story, facial expression, witty retort, or simply his warm and outgoing personality, he could brighten any room and make everyone around him feel welcome.

Golf was one of his greatest passions. He loved spending time on the golf course, where he enjoyed both the game and the lasting friendships that came with it.

Above all, he will be remembered for his generous heart, his sense of humor, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Maurer Houldsworth, and devoted son, Justin Martin Houldsworth, along with extended family and many cherished friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
