

James Robert Sturgeon was born December 11, 1938 in Barker’s Point, New Brunswick, Canada, to James Earl Sturgeon and Joyce Ethel (Fletcher Sturgeon) Stone. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, TN, and later attended Bethany Bible College in Nova Scotia, Canada, East Tennessee State College in Johnson City, and Kent State University in Canton, OH.
Bob attended Chrysler, Nissan, General Motors, and Ford management schools, earning several professional certifications during a long career as a service director in the automotive industry. During that career, he worked at Sun Toyota, Group 1/Atlanta, Paul West Ford/Mitsubishi, the Tamaroff Automotive Group, Gator Chrysler Plymouth, and Brandon Chrysler Plymouth. Bob loved ice hockey, boating, golfing, snow skiing, and Pomeranians.
Bob is survived by his wife Linda E. Sturgeon of Ocala, FL; sister Helen Stairs and her husband Karl of Casselberry, FL, brother Terry Stone of Stanley, New Brunswick, Canada, and sister Marjorie Stone; daughter Keisha Romano and her husband Michael of Valrico, FL, and son James Sturgeon II and his wife Charissa; grandchildren Vincent Romano, Anthony Romano and his wife Brittany, Mikaela Romano, and Lyndsay Sturgeon, and great-grandchild Ella Romano; nieces Cindy Stairs of Lady Lake, FL and Carla Lord of Ocala, FL; nephews Karl Stairs of Casselberry, FL and Mike Stairs of Lake Helen, FL. Bob is also survived by extended family members Allyn, Sendy and Benjamin Geer of Odessa, FL, James Townley of Santa Barbara, CA, and Jessica, Elliot, Eloise, and Alistair Davis of Tampa, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family is grateful to the staff at West Marion Community Hospital in Ocala and to the National Cremation Society in The Villages for the compassion and care provided during Bob’s final days.
