

James “Jim” Alexander Skipper passed away peacefully on February 8, 2022 at the age of 85, in his home in Leesburg, Florida. Jim was born July 16, 1936 in Coffee Springs, Alabama to Helon Skipper and Ruby Murdock. Still fresh from high school, Jim signed up with the US Navy as a submarine technician for four years, later going to Troy State College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1967. Jim later worked with a number of private and government offices as a contractor in computer systems development.
No one who met Jim Skipper will forget his infectious passion for non-work activities like fishing, wooden furniture carpentry, and even 3D printing. Jim loves golf and even had a hole in one in March 1997. A truly gifted and talented individual, Jim can build things with so much enthusiasm and energy.
Jim was happily married to Tess Santos for 20 years and together they have visited many places in the world, meeting people from different cultures, and thereby creating a lot of joyful and happy memories together. In addition to the love of his life Tess, Jim is survived by his sons Ray and Carl, sister Janet, brother-in-law Wendel Brock, step sons Lincoln and Winston, step daughters Medy and Gigi, and grandkids Trizza, Bernice, Gaile, and Shawn.
Jim will be honored and interred at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell Florida on February 28, 2022 Monday at 9:30 AM. Reception to follow at the nearby Dade Battlefield Historic State Park also in Bushnell.
