It is with breaking hearts that we share the passing of Gwendolyn (Gwen) Powers, cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the love of our father's life, best friend, and partner in life's adventure. She was our mother, guardian angel and wise woman. Nana was a confidant and storyteller to her grandkids, and the subject of amazing stories for her great grandchildren. Gwen had a fun-loving nature and loyal heart that endeared her to friends and was an avid golfer with a wicked short game. Gwen passed away on September 15, 2026.
Gwen was born on July 8, 1940 to Elmo and Edna Ellerbee in Columbus, Georgia. She was a woman of many talents who obtained a degree in cosmetology, served as an activity director at a retirement facility, and an administrative assistant for an auto auction. Gwen enjoyed golf, mahjong, travel with her husband and friends, and time with her family. She had a huge, generous heart, was the queen of pink fashion and connoisseur of gummy bears. Gwen is survived by her beloved husband Gerry Powers, sons Mark and Jeff Powers, daughters Angie Adams and Melinda Powers, grandchildren Alex Fineskos, Dori Williston-Powers, Jillian Markson, Wesley Powers, Alyson Powers and great-grandchildren Leo Fineskos, Keanu Williston, Riley Fineskos and Seiji Powers. We all miss her more than words can say. She was an extraordinary woman who, in the words of Jimmy Stewart, led a Wonderful Life.
