

Geraldine A. “Gerry” Black, 85 of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully at Cornerstone Hospice on August 14, 2025 after being treated for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Gerry was inspiration to many as a 14+ year breast cancer survivor, she continued to find joy in everything she did.
Gerry was born on November 14, 1939, in New York City, to the late George A. Larkin and Caterine Petrocelli. She is survived by her devoted husband Arthur H. Black, her sons Brian Black (Chris) and Kevin Black (Alice), her daughter, Sheila Gschwind (Kurt) and daughter-in-law Laurie Black. In addition, she is survived by 9 grandchildren—Matthew, Ryan and Kevin Black; Christofer, Mark and Steven Gschwind; and Shaun, Kyle and Jessica Black. Gerry is also survived by five great-grandchildren – Ellie, Noah and Leo Black of Hamburg, Germany and Blair and Sophia Black of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Gerry attended The Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica, New York and earned an Associate in Applied Science Degree from the State University Agricultural and Technical Institute at Farmingdale, New York.
Gerry worked as a Dental Office Manager in Hopewell Junction, New York. Prior to moving to The Villages in 2005 from Clifton Park, New York, Gerry was very active in her church and as a volunteer in her community.
Gerry was a past member of The Villages Bicycle Club, The Saratoga Country Club, The Villages Irish American Club and The WOWs (Women of Wisdom). She enjoyed playing bridge, Five Crowns, mahjong and golf. Gerry was an avid traveler having made trips to Ireland, England, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, The Netherlands, Hawaii, Bermuda and the Caribbean.
A memorial mass is being held for Gerry at 8:30 am. at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Lady Lake FL on October 17, 2025. A Celebration of Life for Gerry will be held following the mass. at the Seabreeze Recreation Center on Buena Vista Blvd.
