Doug was a man of many facets—a son, brother, friend, Marine, trucker, boat captain, business owner, biker, and scuba diver. His journey began as a Marine, an experience that shaped much of his character and discipline. Over the years, Doug tackled diverse career paths: working with heavy machinery, driving trucks cross-country, and eventually running his own successful trucking company. Eventually, he heard the call of the water, reinventing himself once more to become a boat captain—a role that earned him his well-known moniker, "Tugboat".
Though Doug spent much of his life independently, he was never truly alone. He was a family man at heart who formed deep bonds wherever he went. From his childhood family to his military family, motorcycle community, and countless friends, Doug had a unique ability to bring people together.
His outsized personality matched his physical presence. He made those around him laugh, shake their heads, and embrace his vibrant view of life. Generous and open-armed, Doug was always ready to lend a hand, offering a dollar, a comforting hug, a shoulder to cry on, or a decisive plan for action. The loss of this gentle giant leaves an immeasurable void in all our lives.
Per his wishes, Doug will be laid to rest at the Neptune Memorial Reef off Key Biscayne, Florida.
