Dorothy Mae Newell

She was born November 10th in 1926 to Raymond and Iva Lou Boyt in Citra Florida. Dorothy grew up in Citra, graduating in 1944 from Citra High School, served many years as a Correctional Officer at the Women’s Correctional Institute in Lowell, and shared 14 years of marriage with her beloved husband Raymond J Newell.

She was a lifetime member of the Citra United Methodist Church, and a lifetime member of the VFW Women’s Aux. #4209.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sons, Ray & Jay Poppell; a grandson, Brian Poppell and Sister Ramona Louise McCann.

She is survived by a sister Alice Goodson, grandsons Barret Poppell, Edward (Eddie) Poppell and granddaughter-in-law Zuly Poppell; two great-grandsons, Zack & Dillon Poppell; daughter-in-law, Jeanene Wilson; several nieces and nephews..

She was a lifetime member of the Citra First United Methodist Church and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. #4209, Ocala, Fla.
