Constance Lou (Garlock) Bollert of The Villages, Florida passed away on May 15, 2022 at the age of 85. She was born on January 25, 1937 in Lansing, Michigan. After graduating as the valedictorian of her high school class, Connie attended Michigan State University. During that time, she married the love of her life, Dale W. Bollert, and quickly started a family, welcoming three sons within 2½ years! Following his graduation, Dale joined the United States Air Force and together, always a team, Connie and Dale embarked on an adventurous career, living in England, Germany, Mexico and Honduras, as well as several U. S. states, including Michigan, Delaware, Texas, California and Florida. Following “their” retirement from the military, the Bollerts lived in the San Antonio area, before moving to Florida, where they lived in Tampa, Naples, Cape Coral and then finally, The Villages.
Connie was an excellent athlete, who played basketball in high school, and tennis and golf in later years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and cryptograms. Connie was an extraordinary seamstress and made most of her clothes, as well as a broad array of other items, including home decor, car seat upholstery, boat covers, and most recently COVID facemasks. In The Villages she was an active member of the Sewing Club as well as the Convertible Club and was a founding member of The Flockers!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale W. Bollert, her parents Wayne and Dorothy Garlock and siblings Douglas Garlock and Dorothy Garlock.
Connie is survived by her three children, Duane (Lee Ann), Lee and Steve (Jennifer) Bollert, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and her brother David Garlock of Lansing, Michigan.
The family would like to thank all of her friends in The Villages for the care and compassion they showed Connie in her final days. She always said moving to The Villages was one of their best moves ever.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Connie’s honor to the Gary Sinise Foundation (garysinisefoundation.org), which supports veterans, first responders and their families.
