

Charles, “Chuck”, Laine passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2025 in The Villages, Florida at the age of 87. He is survived by his loving wife, Marge, with whom he shared 64 years of beautiful marriage and their three children: Susan (Mike) Sullivan, Beverly Hills, Michigan, Charles (Ardis), Long Beach, California and Robert (Jane), New Albany, Ohio. He was “Pop Pop” to his three grandchildren Louis, Marlee, and Jacqueline that he was lucky to live near and was actively involved in their childhoods.
Chuck was born in Hornell, New York, August 14, 1937 to Lillian and Clarence Laine and is survived by his sister Shirley Moresco, Ithaca, New York. His brother Tim (Jan) Laine passed away just three months ago.
Following high school, he served with the US Air Force, 1955-1959, and was assigned to the USAF Air Training Command as an instructor in their electronics school, both at Scott AFB and Keesler AFB. After military service, Chuck attended Ithaca College where he met the love of his life, Marge Rosner of Princeton, New Jersey who was attending nearby Keuka College. He graduated with a BA and subsequently earned an MBA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, New York.
His 40-year career in marketing began in Rochester, NY and then went on to Indianapolis, San Francisco, and Detroit. At the height of his career, he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of Soskin-Thompson, San Francisco.
Chuck had an amazing aptitude with electronics and automotive mechanics. He repaired and maintained all the family cars. One of his greatest achievements was to dismantle and renovate a 1960 Cadillac convertible which he proudly drove in the Detroit Dream Cruise. He was a “Mr. Fix-It” for all kinds of home maintenance projects.
Chuck and Marge retired to The Villages, Florida from Beverly Hills, Michigan in 2010 to play golf, visit their Michigan snow-bird friends and enjoy warm weather year-round. As a golf enthusiast, Chuck enjoyed playing the game and watching tournaments on TV. He was an avid current news-event follower and read the WSJ cover-to-cover daily.
A Memorial service will be held at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Michigan where he will be interred with military honors.
