

William “Bill” Michael Costa Jr., 95 of Venice, FL, devoted husband of Maria “Gilda” (Lima) and son of the late William M. Costa Sr. and Leonor D. (Furtado) passed away on February 17, 2025 surrounded by family after a brief illness.
Bill was born in New Bedford, MA in 1929 and lived in Dartmouth, MA for more than 40 years before he and Gilda relocated to Venice, FL. Bill was a wonderful father to his four children and loving husband to Gilda, his wife. He was always someone who we could all count on. Bill will be most remembered for his quick wit and his signature dry sense of humor! He enjoyed following politics, current events, history and reading. Bill and Gilda would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in April.
Bill retired in 1987 after a lengthy career as the Purchasing Manager for Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He was a 1948 graduate of New Bedford High, he served in the US Army during the Korean War, and earned his Associates Degree from BCC. Bill proudly served the town of Dartmouth as a former member of the Finance Committee and a town meeting member.
Surviving Bill is his beloved wife Gilda, his daughter Mary-Ellen Costa and partner Kathleen Texeira of New Bedford, son David M. Costa of Vermont, daughter Susan M. Costa and partner Steven H. Costa of Fairhaven, son Steven W. Costa of Venice, Florida and brother in law, Herbert Lima of New Bedford.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the dedicated staff at the Tidewell Hospice Care Center at Village On The Isle.
Funeral services will be held in June in Massachusetts.
