
Stella was born January 20, 1916 in Brooklyn, NY of Thomas and Anna Romanowitz. At age 7 she lost her father and older sister in a tragic car accident. She graduated from Saratoga Springs High School.
For several years she worked at Stewart’s Ice Cream Company as a bookkeeper. Some of her favorite activities were gardening, square dancing, bowling, and spending time on Lake George. Always involved in her community, she was the Town Clerk of Providence, NY for many years; was an active member of the Galway Central Schools Board of Education and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Providence Fire Department. She gave her energies to her church, St. Mary’s, in Galway, NY.
She is survived by her daughter Carole Stroud and her husband Richard of South Windsor, CT, her daughter Joan Euler and her husband Frederic of Saratoga Springs, NY, four grandchildren, David Stroud, Stephen Stroud, Derek Euler, Brent Euler, and by 6 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Stella was predeceased by her brother Joseph Romans, her twin half-siblings, John Scott, and Mary Shackford.
A Roman Catholic Mass and Memorial Service will be held on May 19 at 9 AM at ST. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Galway, New York.
