Peter Francis Brennan of Sarasota, Florida, peacefully passed away on August 1, 2024.
Born on October 10, 1933, in The Bronx, New York City, Peter was the son of Peter Joseph Brennan and Mary Blanch Moir. Though he spent his later years in Florida, Peter cherished his time in Manhattan, where he lived most of his life.
Peter married Raoula Bach in 1961, who predeceased him in 1997, and later married Ellen Murdoch on June 10, 2000.
A passionate baseball fan from an early age, Peter’s love for the New York Yankees was matched by his immense pride in his brief professional career as a minor league catcher for the Triple-A Durham Bulls.
Peter began his academic journey at Columbia University, earning his undergraduate degree, and continued at New York University, where he obtained an MBA that laid the foundation for a distinguished career. He first made his mark as a Partner at Coopers & Lybrand Consulting, where his expertise and insight were highly regarded.
As the software industry emerged, Peter embraced the new frontier, contributing his talents to leading companies such as Index Technology, Lotus, IBM, and GE Consulting. Known for his calm collected demeanor and insightful counsel, Peter was a mentor and friend to many, guiding them through their professional challenges and opportunities. His ability to take over existing business units, clarify goals, improve everyone’s ability to execute, and drive significant improvements made him a valued leader in each role he undertook.
After retiring from the technology sector, Peter pursued a successful 20-year career in real estate with Weichert and Coldwell Banker. He found great fulfillment in helping friends and clients find their dream homes. His ability to listen and provide thoughtful guidance made him a beloved figure in the community, as well as a trusted advisor to many.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Peter was a lifelong learner with a deep passion for reading, technology, and puzzles. He constantly sought new knowledge and loved sharing his insights, often using his gift of gab to engage and inspire others. His generosity with his time, combined with his sincere interest in the success of those around him, earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Peter leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and a love for learning. He was a mentor, respected professional, and true friend. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched and the lives he helped shape. Although his passing is a great loss, his influence and the lessons he imparted will continue to inspire.
Peter is predeceased by his parents, his beloved mother-in-law Kathryn (Katchie) Murdoch, his cousin and dear friend Bernadette Barrett, and his siblings Eunice Blackman, Robert Brennan, Mary Ann Vaccaro, and Raymond Brennan.

Additional Note: If Peter were writing his own obituary, he would want to thank his wife, Ellen, for 24 wonderful years together. His Irish eyes always lit up when he talked about Ellen, expressing how much he loved and appreciated her. He would especially want to thank her for the exceptional care and compassionate support she provided during his later years as he struggled with near blindness while battling Alzheimer’s. ~ LM and JD
