Gerald Lee Stutzman

music, and a life devoted to family and faith.

Jerry was born at home in Noble County, Indiana, in 1937 to Abner and Elva (Troyer) Stutzman.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy before building a career and raising a

family.

In 1978, Jerry married the love of his life, Cheryl Carlson Stutzman. Together they shared nearly

five decades of marriage, and in 2001 they relocated to Sarasota, Florida, where Cheryl continues

to reside.

Over the years, Jerry enjoyed a variety of careers. He owned a nursery school in Kokomo,

Indiana; owned a business services franchise with E.K. Williams & Co.; and later served as a

purchaser for Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury, Indiana. Whatever the role, he was

known for his strong work ethic, warm personality, and ability to make lasting connections with

others.

Music was one of Jerry's greatest passions. An accomplished musician and natural entertainer, he

loved bringing people together with his talent, quick wit, and larger-than-life personality. His

sense of humor and genuine interest in others made him someone people naturally enjoyed being

around.

Jerry's faith was the foundation of his life. As a devoted member of Bayshore Church in

Sarasota, he found joy in worship, fellowship, and serving others with humility and compassion.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Abner and Elva (Troyer) Stutzman; his son, Jeff

Stutzman; his granddaughter, Danni Frain; his sisters, Joella Zehr and Jeanie Carroll; and his

brothers, Kenneth Stutzman and Willard Stutzman.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Stutzman; his daughters, Jennifer "JJ" (Lee) Landis

and Christy (Matt) Minnick; his brother, Marion Stutzman; and seven cherished grandchildren.

Jerry will be remembered for the joy he brought to others, his generous spirit, his gift for music,

and the example he set through a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and lovingly

remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at the Sunnyside Village Chapel 5201 Bahia Vista St. in

Sarasota July 30th at 10:30 am. Services will also be live-streamed on the Sunnyside Village

channel on YouTube.
