

Gary Jones, of Lakewood Ranch, died June 18, 2022 at the age of 76 years with family surrounding him. Gary was born in Danbury, Connecticut. Gary was a family man and a great friend. Gary was kind and caring towards others and was respected by many. Gary was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, Gary earned the National Defense Metal, Vietnam Service Metal with 4 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Metal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Metal and Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon. Gary always worked hard in every job that he had and he earned numerous awards throughout his career. Gary was an entrepreneur and retired from American Dry Stripping in Milford, Connecticut at 70 years of age. Gary enjoyed listening to music, his favorite singer being Elvis, watching Clint Eastwood movies, going to car shows, and playing canasta with friends and family. He never missed an event that involved his grandchildren and loved their dog that he affectionately called “fleabag.” Gary had a special place in his heart for antique cars. He owned, and restored, many cars through the years. A day of watching NASCAR was a good day in Gary’s world. Gary had the opportunity to travel the country in his RV, something he often noted as being grateful that he had accomplished. Gary was strong and determined up until his final days and always put his family first. Gary is survived by Tina Pfalzgraf (daughter) and Chip Pfalzgraf (son-in-law) of Lakewood Ranch. Gary has two grandchildren, Conner Pfalzgraf and Colin Pfalzgraf, who were the light of his life. He is survived by Patty Jones also of Lakewood Ranch. Gary is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Mary Pinckney Jones (mother), Charles Jones (father), Alan Jones (brother), Walter Jones (brother), Teddy Jones (brother) and Judy White (sister).
Services will be held on July 22, 2022 at 11:30 am at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, Florida 34241. Family will be hosting a celebration of life immediately following at Gary’s home. In lieu of flowers, if you desire, you may make a donation in the memory of “Gary W.
