Born on February 12, 1949, in Lowell, MA, to parents Helen (Tandus) and Frederick Connell. Gary was a resident of Westford (Graniteville) for 17 years and a graduate of Westford Academy, where he served in the Air National Guard's 103rd Fighter Group, based at Bradley Airport in Windsor Locks, CT, for several years. He attended New Haven Culinary School and worked for Roncari Industry in East Granby, CT, prior to relocating to Ellenton, Florida.
Gary was known for his quick smile, humor, and positive spirit. He never let his health challenges stop him from going out and making new friends - especially on the dance floor in his wheelchair. He was an inspiration to all that got to know him. Despite ongoing health challenges, he found joy in life and was always the first to say everything was fine.
The family is grateful for the kindness and compassion of the many caregivers over the years. Gary formed special bonds with his aides and greatly valued those friendships.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Frederick Connell.
Gary is survived by his daughter Heather Connell Roncari, his son Todd (Jennifer) Connell, and his granddaughter Kennedy Connell; his brother Brian (Cathy) Connell and nephew Blake Connell; special companion Marian Dovale, and many extended family members and friends who cherished him deeply.
Memorial contributions may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, 706 Haddonfield Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
May the Lord welcome him home.
