Donald Eugene Lutz

Donald “Don” Lutz, of Venice Florida, passed away peacefully on July 5th, 2025. He was 90 years old. Don was born in Lancaster, PA and was the son of the late Lemon and Helen Lutz. Don was married to his late beloved wife Janice “Jan” Lutz for 70 years.

He graduated in 1952 from Manheim Township High School where he met Jan. After high school, he served in the Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class (END2) for five years. He received an honorable discharge and started working for Harry Ressler Plumbing and Heating where he rose to become Vice President. In 1976 Don co-founded the Frey-Lutz Corporation, where he served as president, which remains a thriving HVAC business in Lancaster, PA.

Don was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Lancaster Hempfield where he eventually served as president. He had a strong faith and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lancaster, PA for many years and later Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Venice, FL where he and his wife Jan enjoyed retirement for 14 years. He enjoyed playing tennis up until he was 88 years old, skiing, trout fishing, deer hunting, and playing bridge with his friends.

Don is survived by his second daughter, Jennifer Bruestle (wife of Kevin), and three grandchildren Sean Bruestle, Olivia James, and Emma James. His eldest daughter, Susan James, brother Ralph Lutz, and sister Betty Barr preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 790 S Tamiami Trail in Venice, FL on Saturday August 2nd, 2025 at 11:00 am.
