Christopher “Chris” Robert Guindon, 58 Years Old, passed away peacefully in his home in Sarasota, FL on January 19th, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Chris was born September 15, 1964 in Needham, MA to Robert “Bob” and Patricia “Pattie” nee Dorsey Guindon. He spent most of his childhood traveling the US, moving 61 times over his lifetime. He graduated high school from The Derryfield School in 1982, where he was a medal-winning dive team member. He went on to study political science at The University of New Hampshire before starting his family.
Chris spent the next 28 years married to Shelly (Jacques) Guindon) raising his two girls, Krystyn and Kathryn “Kat”, in New Hampshire, New York, and finally making a home in Utah. While there, he enjoyed the mountains, camping and boating at Echo Lake, and most of all duck hunting with his cherished dog, Rosie.
Chris was proud to have been one of the youngest to earn their Master Plumber’s license in New Hampshire in 1987. He helped start a local plumbing company in Utah, and continued in his field of Project Management, maintaining licenses in many states for 35 years.
Chris loved playing, watching, and mentoring in all sports. He never turned down a game of catch and would find his way to a local fishing hole wherever he went. He was known by all for his stellar cooking skills on and off the grill. He had a wide and eclectic range of musical interests and attended many concerts with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to visit wonderful places including Finland and Russia to play soccer, many countries in Europe and several Caribbean Islands with his parents, and all over the USA.
After his children were grown, Chris moved to Texas where he met and fell in love with his long-time partner, Joyce. They spent the next 10 years together joining their love for travel and visiting many MLB stadiums, Aruba, and a trip to Spain with their church, among others. Together they moved to Florida to be near Chris’ parents, where they learned to kayak and built a beautiful home to welcome family and friends. Chris loved his days on and near the water, watching the wildlife, and admiring a good sunset.
Chris said recently his greatest achievement in life was his two daughters, “his girls”. He was both a fantastic father, and a loving grandfather or “Pepe” as his grandkids call him. His parents describe him as a loving and caring son, and a kind soul.
Chris is survived by his partner Joyce Maples, children Krystyn Bailey (Darryl), Kathryn Perschon (Braden), his parents Bob and Pattie Guindon, his brother Craig (Lisa) Guindon, grandchildren Alex Bailey and Carver Perschon, nephews Cole and Nathan Guindon, niece Eliana Guindon, and many extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents John and Helen Dorsey, Henry and Mary Guindon, and treasured aunts and uncles “Jerri” Geraldine and “Jack” John Dorsey, Jean “Jack” Guindon, Marie Greime, Charles Greime, and his cousin Michael Greime.
A service will be held in his honor on Thursday, January 26th at 9:30AM ET at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 425 S Tamiami Trail, Osprey, FL 34229. A livestream will be available for those who are not able to attend in person. Details to follow.
