Charlotte B Richter

Charlotte Bell (Fore) Richter died August 5, 2026, after multiple bouts with oral cancer. She was born on March 17,1938 to Charles Henry Fore and Dixie Bell (Smith) Fore in Sarasota, Florida and lived their whole life there.

Charlotte graduated from Sarasota High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Ronald “Ron” Richter, on July 7, 1956. They began their marriage with an unforgettable trip to Belize after Charlette entered and won a television station contest for an all-expenses-paid honeymoon. They shared over 65 years of marriage before Ron died on February 24, 2022.

Charlotte was close to her siblings and for many years, she and Ron enjoyed weekly gatherings with them and their spouses to play cards and games. Charlotte and Ron loved boating, fishing, and camping, where they created countless memories together, They also shared a strong Christian faith.

Throughout her life, Charlotte wore many hats. She raised three children and actively supported them in numerous activities, including Cub Scouts, 4-H, and band, all while keeping the books for Ron’s masonry business. Charlotte was later a realtor and Weight Watchers leader.

Charlotte moved to Sunnyside Village after Ron’s death and was very active in the community, volunteering in the dining room, participating in a clown group, and welcoming new residents to Sunnyside. She enjoyed Sunnyside activities, including volleyball, exercise classes, art classes, and games. Charlotte was beloved by staff and other residents and was known for her friendliness, kind heart, positive outlook, and colorful outfits.

Charlotte is survived by her children, Ron (A.J.) Richter and Kurt (Dina) Richter of Sarasota, Florida and Kay (Diane Wilson) of Lincoln, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, Carl (Angie) Richter, Jason Richter, Dean (Sammie) Richter, Tabitha (Nathan) Bradley, Wesley (Jessica) Richter, Shyenne Richter (Daniel Lustro), Quinton (Meadow) Richter, Haydon Richter, and Charlie Richter (Liam Niehus-Staab); 18 great grandchildren (with tow more on the way); a sister, Elizabeth Miller; and a sister-in-law, Annette Fore. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings Charles Fore, Henrietta Wilhelm, and John Fore.

A memorial service will be held at Sunnyside Chapel at 5201 Bahia Vista Street in Sarasota on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 10:00 am. The family invites attendees to wear bright colors in honor of Charlotte.
