Carol Smith

Carol Smith of Lakewood Ranch, FL, went home to be with the LORD on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on August 9, 1934, in Newark, NJ. She lived in New Jersey for 79 years before moving to Florida in 2013.

After raising her three children, she took a job at Burrelle’s Press Clipping Bureau as a Media Research Analyst.

She was an active member of t St. Peter's Episcopal Church and always loved serving at their thrift shop. She enjoyed sewing early in her marriage. She loved gardening, woodworking, boating, and fishing with her husband, Frank. She loved spending time with her grandchildren who held a special place in her heart. She always loved preparing scrumptious meals and baking to her heart’s delight throughout the year. Upon moving to Florida she became a member of Grace Community Church in Lakewood Ranch.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Howard Smith, her sister Betty Buckley, and her brothers Everett and Douglas Sharp.

She is survived by her three children Donald Smith of Seattle, Washington, Diana Rothauser and husband Doug of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., and Pamela O’Connor and husband Dennis of Whippany, NJ. She leaves behind three precious grandchildren Siobhan Winkler and husband Charles IV, Dr. Luke O’Connor and wife Samantha, and Terrence O’Connor and wife Laura. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Finley, Charles Winkler V and Scarlett O’Connor.

She is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends and leaves behind her beloved cat Cali.

The family would like to thank Tidewell Hospice for the care and compassion they showed toward their beloved mother in her final days.
