

Brenda L. Kall, age 66, passed away peacefully at home early Monday morning, February 6, 2023 after her two year battle with ovarian cancer. Brenda L. Nielsen was born August 27, 1956 in Kewanee, Illinois to Eugene and Marilyn Nielsen. Brenda grew up with her parents, two sisters and three brothers in Annawan, IL and graduated from Annawan High School in 1974. She then received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Illinois State University. Brenda later received her Masters degree in Education from Western Illinois University.
Brenda met the love of her life, Bill, while both playing outdoor volleyball in Moline, IL in 1980. They both married in Moline June 6, 1981 and then spent almost 42 wonderful, wedded years, mostly in the Quad Cities area, until moving to Florida in January, 2012, then Nokomis, FL in May after retirement.
Brenda began her career student teaching at various schools in the Illinois Quad Cities area, then spent most of her entire career as a full time Elementary Teacher at Colona Grade School in Colona, IL in 1979 until her retirement in December 2011. Brenda always had a passion for helping others and especially had a wonderful way she connected with children.
Brenda was very athletic and enjoyed a number of outdoor activities such as concerts, festivals, volleyball, softball, pickleball, bocce, ice skating, snow skiing, swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, boating, hiking, bicycling, and target shooting.
Brenda had a true love for all animals and enjoyed being outdoors where she could see them.
She loved spending time at the beaches and really enjoyed seeing the dolphins and manatees often seen. She also loved seeing the birds and sometimes alligators in the lake behind our home.
Brenda was always caring, kind hearted, fun loving, and active in Bible Study. She had so many wonderful friends in Florida and back in Illinois/ Iowa, and all were considered like family to her. She will be greatly missed by all.
Brenda was preceded in death by her Father, Eugene Nielsen, Brother, Mark Nielsen, Brother-in Law, Ken Stockton, Step-Daughter, Julie Kall/Stewart, and Mother-in Law, Marilou Kall.
She is survived by her Husband, William (Bill) Kall, Step-Grandson, Jacob Stewart, Her Mother, Marilyn Nielsen, Sisters, Sandra and Roy Milling, Linda Stockton, Sister-in Law, Susan Nielsen, along with Brothers, Clay and Lee Ann Nielsen, Bruce and Angie Nielsen, Father-in Law, Leonard Kall, Brother-in Law, Jim and Barb Carter/ Kall, and Sister-in Law, Kathy and Steve Naber.
A Florida Celebration of Brenda’s Life was held Saturday, April 29, 2023, at First Baptist Church Lake Front Location in Venice, FL. A Quad Cities area Celebration of Brenda’s Life was later also held June 11, 2023 at the Middle Park Lagoon Shelter in Bettendorf, Iowa.
