Alan Stone, 87, died November 26, 2017 from complications of Parkinson’s disease, with family and friends at his side in Venice, Florida. Alan was born in Syracuse, NY. A graduate of Brown University, he served in the Army then entered manufacturing management. His volunteer work included the Anchorage School Board, Board of Directors Louisville School of Art and several other civic organizations. He was a Kentucky Colonel. HH After his first retirement, he became a successful Financial Planner. But it was at age 72 that Alan’s life took an unexpected and rich turn when he found a relationship with Jesus Christ and was baptized. The following year he met Bette; their marriage brought him much happiness. He devoted his gifts of teaching and leadership first to Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, then First Christian Church in Venice. He is survived by Bette; daughter Holly Stone McGowan; son-in-law Chris McGowan; stepson Randy Baker; daughter-in-law Mary Baker; and grandchildren Aaron, Heather and Stephen Baker. A Celebration of Life service is being held Saturday December 2 at 11:00am at First Christian Church, Venice, Florida.
