Lt Col Robert LeRoy Evers USAF (Retired)

Col Robert L. Evers was born on January 13, 1934, in Baltimore, Maryland to parents J. LeRoy Evers and Elsie (Kircher) Evers. He married Anne F. Mee on April 5, 1959, and they shared 65 wonderful years together. He and Anne lived in Wichita Falls, Texas for 31 years and moved to Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas in 2006.

He entered the United States Air Force Aviation Cadet Program in 1955 and earned Navigator Wings and a commission as a 2nd Lt in June 1956. A Master Navigator he logged 7000 flying hours in RC-121D, KC-135, C-130 and B-52 aircraft. He served two tours in Vietnam/Southeast Asia, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and 9 Air Medals. He was assigned to Sheppard AFB, TX in 1975, after graduating from the Air War College, Maxwell AFB, AL. He retired in October 1979 as the Wing Inspector General.

After his Air Force retirement, he worked at A. G. Edwards and Sons as a stockbroker, futures/commodities broker, and financial planner for seventeen years. He also taught investments at Wayland Baptist University for six years.

He graduated from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1952. Col Evers was also a graduate of the University of Nebraska/Omaha and has an MBA from George Washington University, Washington, DC. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Air Force Association. He served as President and was a life member of the Wichita Falls Military Officer's Association. He was a Life Master Bridge Player and served as President of the Wichita Falls Bridge Unit. He was a member of the Air Force Navigators Observers Association.

He and Anne moved part time to Naples. FL in 1998. He enjoyed many years of golf and bridge. He will be missed by his golf buddies who will have to find another pigeon to supplement their beer money.

Survivors include his wife Anne; a son Thomas of Dallas; son Mark and his wife Karen of San Antonio; daughter Julie Hizel and husband Steve of Naples, FL; grandsons Zachary and Kyle Evers of San Antonio, TX.

He is also survived by and will be missed by his Internal Medicine guy, Nephrologist, Dermatologist, Urologist, Dentist, Dental Hygienist and Ophthalmologist.
