Joe was born on July 2, 1946, in Corsicana, Texas to Imar and Carl Scott. As a young boy, he was active both in the Boy Scouts and his Catholic parish, where he served as an altar boy. During his years at Corsicana High School, he was a member of the National Honor Society, voted “Most Scholarly Boy,” and served as president of the student council.
In 1968, Joe proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he rose to the rank of E-5 as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Equipment). He was stationed aboard the USS Forrestal (CV-59) and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with a bronze star.
After his military service, Joe worked as a computer engineer with Forney Engineering Corporation, where he dedicated 35 years of service. Outside of work, he could often be found tinkering in the garage, riding his Harley, or enjoying time with his family at the lake.
Joe was a devoted husband and father, the steady rock of the family. He and his beloved wife, Teresa Rose Scott (née Acton), recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in October 2024. To his three daughters, he was everything and each proudly called herself “Daddy’s girl.”
Joe is survived by his wife Teresa; daughters Jada Reene Wright (Michael), Regina Margaret Jordan (Joseph Morin), and Jennifer Ashton Scott (Ashley Scott); grandchildren Jacob and Tigerlilli Wright, James and Joseph Jordan; and his sister, Carla Ann Freis (née Scott) and her wife, Nedra Wood.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Sylvester Scott; his mother, Imar Margaret Scott (née Budai); and his son, Jacob Daniel Scott.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Thursday, October 9th, 2025 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, TX 75220.
