Jennifer Ann Endsley, born July 30, 1944, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. She was a devoted educator who dedicated her life to teaching and service, touching countless lives throughout her life.
Jennifer was the second of four children born to William and Thelma Jones of Indianapolis, Indiana. She, like her sisters, attended St. Agnes Academy, an all-girls high school. She chose to pursue education like her mother, earning her degree from St. Mary of the Woods, a Catholic liberal arts school in Terre Haute, Indiana (1966).
After graduation, Jennifer traveled to Paintsville, Kentucky to volunteer at St. Michael’s Mission (later to be known as Programs in Appalachia Through Christian Effort (PACE). Jennifer would teach bible school, and help with the outreach programs, including home visits, volunteering at the clothing stores, staffing summer programs and assisting with home visitations to the poor and elderly. This marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to service.
Jennifer then went on to earn her master's degree and taught in Indianapolis at Lakeside Elementary School before moving to San Antonio in 1981. She spent decades teaching in local middle schools for NEISD (Jackson and Driscoll) before her retirement in 2000.
Her passion for education continued as she taught at the Jewish Day School, San Antonio, and Jennifer became an active member for St. George Episcopal Church. She was baptized in 2000, reigniting her faith and becoming an active volunteer, during this time, she drew strength from her faith while courageously battling and defeating breast cancer.
In 2012, Jennifer embarked on a new adventure, moving to Venice, Florida, to be near her sister, Carolyn. There, she volunteered at Divine Consign, a local consignment store, and served at President of the Board at Bella Costa Condominium Complex. She was also involved with Dining for Women, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women and girls living in poverty.
Jennifer had many hobbies; she loved her crafts and found joy in card-making and cross-stitching. She also loved decorating, reading, and traveling the world.
In her final three years, her children brought her back to San Antonio to help care for her as she faced her final fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Despite her disease, she retained her wit and ability to speak her mind. Everyone around her commented on how funny she was and made them laugh.
We celebrate the life of Jennifer Ann Endsley, a remarkable woman who inspired all those around her with her kindness, determination, acts of service and, unwavering dedication to learning. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten
