Nicholas Keith Sampson, age 28, lost his life on November 15th, 2023, in Davenport, Florida. Nick was born on April 13th, 1995, in Norton, Virginia, to his parents, Misty Dawn Sampson and Gary Balthis. Although he spent his early years in the hills of southeastern Kentucky, Nick grew up in Florida and was a 2013 graduate of East Bay Senior High School.
Known as simply “Sampson” to many, Nick was a pursuer of deep connections and pure, long-lasting friendships; this is made evident by the reverberating love of his friends and family who mourn his passing. Nick was a geek for anime, and the “good” sci-fi, growing up on a healthy diet of Star Wars and Godzilla sequels. His taste in, and love for, music was vast.
He believed that character of soul was a person’s most important quality but was accepting of everyone. He was a friend of nature, animals, conversation, and laughter. Nick’s inquisitiveness, compassion, joyfulness, and warmth will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him throughout his short life.
Nick is survived by his father, Gary, his siblings, Kameron Guillemette and Jason Balthis, his grandmothers, Ginger Gibson and Sheila Sampson, his pappaw, Mike Davidson, his great-pappaw, Don Webb, his aunt and uncle, Dayna and Clint Gibson, his aunts, Karrah and Tiffany Sampson Cole, and his precious cat, Onyx. Nick was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Misty (see Obituary below), his pappaw, Dennis Sampson, and his great-grandmother, Norlene Lowe. A memorial service for Nicholas will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at National Cremation and Burial Society Ruskin, 308 East College Ave, Ruskin, FL 33570, for close friends and family.
A precious Angel has gone to be with the Lord
