Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, and raised in Emerson, Nancy was the daughter of Angelina and Thomas Miserendino Sr. She grew up surrounded by the energy of a big, close-knit family and a lively circle of friends. Nancy is survived by her brother, Thomas Miserendino, and his wife, Elaine; her sister, Patricia Franson, and her husband, Mike. She is reunited in peace with her brother, Frank Miserendino, and was the loving aunt to Tommy, Jessie, Mikey, and Lauren.
Nancy and Bill built a life together just down the road in Hillsdale, New Jersey, where they shared a passion for cars, racing, and the open road. In their early years, time was spent at the track, which was soon replaced by clocking countless miles supporting their son at his sporting events. Later, they traveled up and down the East Coast, often with their beloved dogs riding along. Nancy drove professionally during her career at Scholastic Bus Company, where she formed many lifelong friendships, and later with the Mahwah Board of Education, where she transported students, she affectionately called “her babies.”
Nancy loved her Corvettes, learned to ride a Harley at age 60, and later traded her car keys for a golf cart. In Florida, neighbors became family, and she loved them deeply. She was known for her open door and Italian hospitality, always squeezing in one more chair at the holiday table. Her retired years embraced “another sunny day in Florida” - morning swims, time with friends, crafts, card games, and never quite relaxing unless it was to watch an old movie.
She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, remaining forever young in the hearts of all who loved her, especially her husband of 46 years, Bill; her son, Billy, and his wife Alison; and her grandsons, Will and Wes, who adored their playful, energetic “Nani.”
Memorial details will be announced at a later date, with celebrations this summer in both Florida and New Jersey. In place of flowers, family and friends are invited to honor Nancy by raising a glass for a “chin don” toast or taking in the beauty of a sunset.
The Worfolk family expresses their gratitude to the ICU nurses and staff of St. Joseph's Hospital South for their kindness and compassion.
