Michele grew up in Springfield, Illinois, before embarking on a life filled with adventure and love. She lived in California for many years, spending time in Orange County, the Bay Area, and Lake Tahoe, before returning home to Illinois where she met her beloved husband, Dr. Steven Shear. Together they built a life centered on family and shared memories.
Michele is survived by her husband Steven; her son Adam Shear; her step-sons: David Shear (Sara) and their children Lily and Avery; and Michael Shear (Jennifer) and their daughters Allison, Zoe, and Emily; and her sister Patricia Leach. She now joins her parents Della and James Birt, as well as her in-laws Donna and John "Bud" Shear, in eternal rest.
Michele will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and the joy she brought to those around her. A gracious hostess and talented cook, she cherished time spent with loved ones. She had a contagious laugh and a kind heart that touched everyone she met. Her passions included skiing, the arts, cheering for her favorite sports teams, traveling to new destinations, dancing to her favorite songs, and bird watching. Above all else, Michele was a devoted confidant and friend to those fortunate enough to know her.
In Indianapolis, she was an active member of the Junior League and devoted her time to serving her community through volunteer work at the multiple churches she attended. Her professional career encompassed real estate appraisal and serving as the office manager for the family dental practice.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Noon at St. John The Divine Episcopal Church (1015 E Del Webb Blvd., Sun City Center, FL 33573). A lunch reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Michele's memory to the American Cancer Society.
May her memory bring comfort to all who loved her.
