Dianne Carol Felder

April 19, 1943 – June 9, 2026

Dianne Carol Felder was born in northern New Jersey on April 19, 1943 to Lenora Levy and Joseph Guthrie. She passed away on June 9, 2026 in Sun City Center, Florida, following a diagnosis of stage IV breast cancer months earlier.

Growing up in the wake of the Great Depression, Dianne’s family, like most, struggled. She and her two sisters, Joan Roane (older) and Linda Guthrie (younger), lived with their mom in Singac and Paterson. It was not a glamorous or easy childhood, but she never let that hold her back.

Dianne attended an arts high school in Newark and graduated from Bloomfield College with a B.A. in English, which eventually served her well in her civilian career at the Ft. Dix army base as the editor of the Ft. Dix Post and later, as their Public Affairs Officer. Before that, she worked for Essex County, making house calls to families who were in the welfare system. Although her job was primarily to ensure that everything was on the up and up, Dianne worked hard to help single mothers get into county programs designed to prepare young people for a career.

In November of 1969, Dianne married Hillel Felder. They had two daughters - Tova and Tara - and lived in Willingboro, New Jersey for most of their childhoods. Visitors to the Felder home could always find Dianne with stacks of library books on either side of her favorite recliner. Even in her eighties, she remained an avid reader with an impressive vocabulary and a wealth of knowledge gleaned from decades of devouring literature like the peanut M&Ms that were once a favorite snack.

Dianne was a natural artist and her daughters still remember some of their mom’s drawings hanging in the dining room. Dianne and Hillel played Bridge regularly, bowled, and were very involved in their synagogue.

She had a quick wit, a naughty sense of humor, and loved making other people laugh...right to the very end.

Dianne is preceded in death by her ex-husband Hillel and her parents.

She is survived by her daughters Tova Felder (Andy Pfaff) and Tara Felder, sisters Joan Roane and Linda Guthrie and their spouses, and grandchildren Jesse Felder-Pfaff and Daniela Balboa Felder, her half-sister, Michele Guthrie Bartlett, and Joan's three children.

Tova and Tara will be sitting shiva and receiving visitors on Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 6-9 pm at the Felder-Pfaff home.

Dianne’s daughters extend their sincerest thanks to Diane Lovelace, who was a dear friend and companion in Florida in their mom’s final years, to Lexy, one of the nurses who cared for her while she lived in a memory care unit, and to the staff at LifePath Hospice House.
