Mark grew up in Riverside, where he graduated from Ramona High School. He attended Utah Technical College in Provo, Utah, before going on to build a successful career in construction, founding Advanced Construction & Maintenance in Riverside. Known for his exceptional work ethic, Mark served the Inland Empire for decades and earned a reputation for quality craftsmanship. His friendly demeanor and comedic personality turned many clients and employees into lifelong friends.
While attending school in Utah, Mark met and married Melanie Wojnas. They were married in Salt Lake City and shared 37 years together, raising four sons: Nicholas (wife Lindsey), Brett (wife Haley), Andrew, and Ty (fiancée Annie).
Mark is survived by his wife Melanie, his four sons, his granddaughter Kinzie (daughter of Nicholas and Lindsey), and his siblings: Ken, Terri, Dave, Steve, and Rick.
Mark was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a two-year mission in Roanoke, Virginia as a young man.
Outside of work, Mark loved spending time outdoors with his boys. Whether hunting in South Dakota, fishing on the Pacific, or shooting at the rock pile, he cherished every moment spent with them in nature. He was an avid gardener and loved sharing his harvests with friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16, 2025 at 10 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 16930 Via Los Caballeros in Riverside. It will also be streamed via Zoom (https://bit.ly/mark-mitchell-zoom).
He will be remembered for his teasing sense of humor, his prolific green thumb, his love of Olive Garden, and his relentless work ethic. He is loved and missed, and we are comforted by the knowledge that he is free from earthly troubles and reunited with his Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ.
