Neil William James LaFavor, Age 96, died peacefully on the morning of February 25th, 2018. Preceded in death by his loving wife Eleanor LaFavor (Schoenberger). Survived and will be missed by brother Stan (Nadine) LaFavor, sons, Joel (Jill) LaFavor, Kevin (Debbie) LaFavor, and Mark LaFavor (Laura Bonicelli), as well as cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born and raised in Minneapolis, Neil attended North High before joining the Army as part of the photographic mapping squadron in the Philippines. Upon returning home he married Eleanor Schoenberger went back to school to get an engineering degree and raised 3 sons. He loved fishing (especially in Canada), and was happiest behind the wheel of the car. He took the family on road trips through most of the western states and Canada. He worked for Honeywell for 30 years on aerospace projects and spent years on the Apollo project. Watching the moon landing in 1969 was a proud moment for him. In the early 1970’s he moved to Clearwater Florida to finish his career with Honeywell and lived there until Eleanor's death in 2000. He moved back to Minneapolis and lived independently into his 90’s when a fall placed him in a nursing home. He enjoyed a long full life and will be remembered and missed by many. I will picture him waving as he and Mom set out on a long road trip with a destination of adventure and love together.
