

Lowell was born to parents Leonard and Mildred Peterson, in Brookings, South Dakota. Later the family moved to St. James, MN where Lowell attended elementary and high school. Lowell attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD; He later completed his Bachelor’s degree at Mankato State University in Mankato, MN. Lowell’s working career was primarily with inside sales at various electric wholesale companies in the Twin Cities.
In 1975, Lowell met Bonnie on a blind date through a friend and a future sister-in-law. They shared several things in common including their faith, family values, childhoods growing up in a small community, and their love of sports. They were married on September 18, 1976 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Maplewood, MN. Lowell and Bonnie were blessed with the birth of their daughter Rachel in 1979. Following Lowell’s retirement they wintered in Fort Myers, FL, where they enjoyed the warm weather, golf and taking cruises. In the summers they returned to Minnesota.
Lowell is survived by his wife Bonnie, daughter Rachel and son-in-law Paul Lareau, sister Mary Kunza (Jim), sister-in-law Lynn McConnell (Ron), sisters-in-law Karen Herrs (Rodney), Shirley Rahe, Diane Cutsinger (Terrial), brother-in-law Bill Heitman (Jayne), numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Mildred Peterson, brothers James and Allan, Father-in-law Lavern and Mother-in-law Dora Heitman, and brother-in-law Allan Rahe.
The family would like to recognize the medical professionals at CentraCare hospital in St. Cloud, MN, who provided compassionate care in the weeks leading up to Lowell’s passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, July 30 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie, MN. A visitation will be held at St. Andrew one hour prior to the service. We invite all who knew and loved Lowell to join us in honoring his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Lowell’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation, CentraCare Foundation, or another compassionate care charity.
