

John B. Thill “Jack” of Maplewood Minnesota passed away at home on July 29, 2022 at the age of 84 surrounded by family listening to Gunsmoke. He was born on April 15, 1938, in St Paul, Minnesota.
He is preceded in death by his infant son, John Matthew; and faithful companion Roxy.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Susan LaBarre (Michael); son, Allen (Kimberly); granddaughter, Isabella; and grand pups, Pearl, Tina, Connie and Linda LaBarre.
John proudly served in the Army National Guard as a cook. After he left the service, he dedicated his life to baking right up to the end. He donated blood on a regular basis, giving over 27 gallons over his lifetime. Always the family man, he enjoyed taking road trips- seeing 48 States, 6 Provinces and Mexico. Fishing and hunting became a passion in his younger years which continued throughout his life. He was there when Al and Sue each got their first deer. John was a “Jack of all trades”, always willing to share his knowledge with anyone who asked. Working the soil is good for the soul and John found his most peaceful moments tending the garden. He was a dedicated and active member of AA for over 22 years.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Church of St. Peter, 2600 Margaret St. N., North St. Paul on August 16, 2022 at 11:00am. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00am in the gathering space. Luncheon to follow Mass in the fellowship hall.
Interment to follow at Union Cemetery at 2505 Minnehaha Ave. E., St. Paul at 2:00pm.
