Donna had a huge heart and beautiful spirit. She was fun, had a great sense of humor, and just loved to be with people. She could make anyone feel at ease. She especially loved hosting family gatherings. The more people the better. The Thanksgiving tradition came to include games, especially bingo and dice, and for Donna, winning meant there had to be prizes - and a lot of them. She would gather prizes, from coffee mugs to full luggage sets, all throughout the year, so that everyone would go home with a pile.
Donna was big-hearted and always gave generously to everyone. She made dozens of quilts so that every family member received one. She loved cooking, birds, plants, classical music, going to casinos, going on cruises, new adventures, going to the cabin and playing bingo. She will be deeply missed and her spirit will live on in the many lives she has touched.
Donna’s celebration of life is scheduled for May 3, 12:00-3:00 at the Anoka American Legion post 102, 400 W Main St. Anoka MN 55303 followed by public bingo upstairs at 4:00 PM for all for those who wish.
Special Message from Kathleen, Donna’s sister:
Donna was my sister, dearest friend, and confidante. Her strength and conviction to meld families was unwavering. My smiles reflected her humor, kindness, jokes, dances, generosity, joy-filled love for family, extended family, and friends.
She always took time to lend an ear and show sincere care for all of those who knew her. She had a way of making her home everyone’s home with open arms, bringing unity to our truly diverse family.
The nickname I gave her was Kewpie Doll and Butterscotch derived from past experiences that brought us endless laughter. Her random visits, short little dances, phone calls, stories, and jokes will remain engraved in my heart.
My hope is that she felt my love and that I thanked her enough for all she did and stood for. With our final kisses, hugs, and loving words, I bid her a peaceful farewell. Our bond is irreplaceable and her light will continue to shine within me, forever.
