Dennis Lee Moberg

Preceded in death by his parents, Pearl (Lindberg) and Oscar Moberg; father- and mother-in-law, Howard and June Rein; three brothers-in-law, John Krier, Howard (Butch) Rein, and Leonard Lokken; two sisters-in-law, Merideth (Rein) Krier and Rebecca (Rein) Dahlberg; special nephew, Travis Lokken; and Brunch Bunch friends Karen and Steve Graves.

Survived by his lovely wife, Christine; his Girly Girls, Sarah Moberg (Brian Smoliak) and Rachel (Derek) Baldridge; two grandchildren, Luke and Nora; brother, David (Judy) Moberg; sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Rein) Lokken and Vicki Rein; the Brunch Bunch friends; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

He grew up along the shores of Lake Superior in Duluth, served his country in the Navy across the Pacific, graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and provided for his family while instilling a strong work ethic over the course of his career.

Dennis was a meticulous man and liked to plan ahead, often according to the weather forecast. His unassuming nature, gentle presence, and quick wit added warmth to any room. His great memory and sentimentality inspired stories and lessons that he loved to reminisce, especially one-on-one.

If you ever asked Dennis, “How did you do that?”, he would reply with his own catchphrase,

“Well, you see, it’s like this:

I graduated with a degree from an accredited University in the State of Minnesota,

I’ve been halfway around the world–and back–

And… I’m a dad.”

Family was very important to Dennis, and he showed his love in so many ways. He was Chris’ best friend, staying by her side as a loving husband, collaborating as a parent, and dutifully holding their shopping list on errands after retirement. He was a proud Papa to his grandchildren, patiently putting Luke down to sleep no matter his resistance and sharing a secret handshake with baby Nora. He loved his Girly Girls, encouraging them that they could do anything if they put their mind to it, always willing to help them with projects. He appreciated quality time with family, holding a special place in his heart for extended family gatherings and trips to The Farm.

He will be deeply missed. Some of the things that will forever remind us of Dad: Diet Dr. Pepper, volleyball, yellow Corvettes, big band and smooth jazz, vitamins, car maintenance, mini golf, popsicle sticks and duct tape, Ken Zylla jigsaw puzzles, trivia questions, suspenders, classic cars, and the smell of lilacs.

A Memorial Service will be held 11AM Saturday, August 27, 2022 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 13600 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344, with Gathering of Family and Friends beginning at 10:30AM. A lunch with fellowship will follow.
