Delores V. Lund, 91, of Woodbury, Minnesota (formerly of Ellsworth, WI) passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, surrounded by her children. Delores was born April 5, 1934 in Winona, Minnesota to Andrew M. and Gertrude Olson (Weicker).
Delores was proud to let folks know that her first job was as a soda jerk at Ted Maier Drugs in Winona, MN. She graduated high school and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force with her cousin to broaden her horizons and travel the world. When her parents refused to sign the required authorization for her to leave the country, she was greatly disappointed. She completed her Air Force service at F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Delores moved to St. Paul, MN after her discharge from the Air Force. She enrolled in Globe Business College where she met her future husband, Paul. They were married December 28, 1957 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Paul, MN. They moved to Ellsworth, WI where they started their family.
Delores served for many years as Postmaster in Ellsworth, WI for the two branch offices located there. She was also active in St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Ellsworth. She was a life member of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, holding almost every office at the local level for both organizations. She was the first female Commander of the Ellsworth Kinne-Englehart Post 204. She was also a member of the 20/4 Elite members of the Auxiliary. Paul and Delores are also the only husband and wife to have held the position of Legion Post Commander in Ellsworth.
After retirement, Delores and Paul split their time between Florida and Wisconsin. After Paul's passing, Delores continued to live in Florida for several more years before moving permanently to live in Woodbury, MN with her daughter Adele. Delores continued taking short trips to visit her family whenever she could. She took great pleasure in seeing how her family had grown over the years.
Delores was a social butterfly who enjoyed entertaining her family and friends with her wit and spicy sense of humor. She made sure that all who entered her circle were made to feel welcomed and loved. Delores made this possible by keeping up with current events allowing her to communicate, relate and accept everyone she came in contact with. This was one of her greatest gifts.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul A. Lund, her parents, brothers Andrew and Lauren, and her sisters Genevieve, Frances, Daisy and Patricia.
Delores is survived by her children, Paul W. Lund (Beth), Tammy Hojat, Mark Lund (Diane) and Adele Lund; five grandsons, one granddaughter and five great grandchildren.
