Bryan Joseph Peffer (79) of Apple Valley passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on October 9, 2022. Preceded in death by parents Carl and Esther Peffer. Survived by his wife Sue, daughters Lisa Marx (Brian) and Rachel Bean (Andrew), and four grandchildren Jaxson and Payton Marx, Levi and Shoshana Bean.
Bryan was a renaissance man – tinkerer, thinker, and problem solver – who tirelessly sought to learn about and understand the world. After living abroad for many years, Bryan and Sue returned to the USA but continued to travel widely. Bryan was always exploring his surroundings through mechanical engineering (his profession), art in diverse media, culinary creations, studying history, practicing his Christian faith as a member of Trinity Church in Lakeville, and following current events. He was particularly fond of political debate, where his competing desires to be right and to understand opposing opinions were often brought into sharp relief. Bryan was a lifelong teacher, having been an instructor in everything from swimming to woodworking to mathematics. Not without his own demons, Bryan worked hard to become sober earlier in life, and lived by the values espoused by AA and embodied in the Serenity Prayer. He was happiest spending time with Sue or creating in the community workshop alongside his Makerspace guys. He loved his family deeply; they loved him and will miss him dearly.
Visitation with the family (4-5:30pm) and a celebration of life service (5:30pm) will be held on Thursday, October 27th at Zvago Central Village, 7070 153rd Street W, Apple Valley, MN. Masks are optional. Light refreshments will be provided after the service. Bryan was an artist who studied color and breaking traditions – colorful, festive clothing is welcome at his service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bryan’s memory may be made to Visitation School or Saint Thomas Academy.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.nationalcremation.com/location/richfield for the Peffer family.
