Andrea’s journey began in the quiet farming town of Wakefield, Nebraska, where she was born on August 27, 1943, in a humble farmhouse—delivered by her grandmother. The third of eight children born to Norman and Geraldine Anderson, Andrea grew up surrounded by the rhythms of rural life and the values of hard work, faith, and family. She attended a one-room schoolhouse through eighth grade and graduated from Wakefield High School. In the spring of 1966, Andrea earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Kearney State College. That fall, she began her teaching career at Rockbrook Elementary in Omaha, Nebraska, where she taught second grade for three years. Andrea found deep joy in nurturing young minds—her love for children was evident in every lesson she taught.
On October 13, 1967, Andrea met the love of her life, William (Bill) Gibson, at a party. They were married on June 8, 1968, and together built a life rooted in love, faith, and adventure. Andrea and Bill were blessed with seven children—three biological: Chad, Stacy, and Eric; and four adopted: Tricia, Andy, Morgan, and Isaac.
In 1978, the family moved to Colorado, where weekends were spent hiking mountain trails and collecting rocks—a simple joy Andrea cherished. Camping trips and road adventures became treasured family traditions. In 1986, they returned to Omaha, Nebraska, and in 2003, settled in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, where Andrea and Bill raised Morgan and Isaac and lived close to their grandchildren Owen, Landen, and Lia.
Andrea’s heart for children extended beyond the classroom. For 20 years, she served as a children’s leader in Bible Study Fellowship, sharing the love of Jesus with grace and passion. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life—she was a devoted prayer warrior whose quiet strength uplifted those around her.A gifted cook and baker, Andrea filled her home with warmth and the aroma of homemade meals. She and Bill hosted countless family gatherings, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Her love of antiques led to many joyful hours spent exploring estate sales and antique shops, often with her children in tow. She also found solace and inspiration in reading.
Andrea is survived by her children: Chad (Tricia), Stacy (Spencer), Eric (Kara), Tricia (Ben), Andy, Morgan, and Isaac; her grandchildren: Trenton, Logan, Noelle, Luke, Kayla, Emma, Owen, Landen, and Lia; and her siblings: Pamela Decker (Mike), Rhonda Balch, Kendall Anderson, and Herm Rauth, husband of the late Jenene. She is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Geraldine Anderson; her husband Bill Gibson; siblings Jenene Rauth, Wayne Anderson, Lynette Guthmiller, Charles Anderson; and brother-in-law Mike Balch.
Andrea’s life was a testament to love, faith, and service. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Though we grieve her passing, we celebrate the beautiful life she lived and still lives into eternity with Jesus.
