October 6, 1949 – June 6, 2024
Terry Lee Waldron passed away peacefully June 6, 2024, at the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham, N.C. after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Terry was born to Claude F. Waldron Jr. and Florence (Flossie) McCumber on October 6, 1949. After graduating from Sidney High School in 1967, he then proudly served 4 years in the US Navy aboard the USS William R. Rush (1968 – 1972). Terry married the love of his life, Kathryn Ann Kishbaugh, on August 2, 1969. Terry worked as a Tool and Die maker at Bendix (Amphenol) in Sidney NY from 1973 to 1990, completing his apprenticeship and earning recognition as a Journeyman Toolmaker by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers in 1978. After leaving Amphenol, Terry earned his CDL and transitioned to a career driving trucks, which he continued after moving to Sebastion, Fl. with his wife Kathy in 2001 until his retirement in 2016. Following Kathy’s untimely death in 2017, Terry moved to North Carolina in 2020 to be closer to family, where he remained until his passing.
Terry enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and spending time with those he loved. Always with a craft beer to offer, Terry loved cooking and grilling for others. Passionate about his country, Terry was well known for his devout patriotism and maintained his membership with the American Legion post 183 in Sidney. He was eternally grateful for the excellent care he received through the Durham VA Medical center.
Terry was predeceased by his parents, Claude Jr. and Flossie Waldron, his brothers, Charles and Claude III, his wife Kathryn (Kathy), and his beloved dog, Doug. He is survived by Duane (son) and Candice Waldron, their children Jonathan (Esmeralda), Marissa (Matthew), Joseph (Alexis), and Kaitlin (Kevin) and their grandchildren Max, Aryanna, Masir, Adalie, Owen, Ryan, Camilla, and Henry; Tanya Winans (daughter) and her children Shane (Marcella), Kassandra (Austin), Kaitlyn (Brian), Keaghan, and Cody, and her grandchildren Austyn and Sawyer.
Terry shared a special bond with his cousin, Carolyn Lewellyn. He was grateful to have reconnected with her in a time when they both had lost their life mates and needed the understanding, support, and love of someone who came from the same place and time. Another special cousin, Dawn Bunzey Nelson, was very dear to him as well. He worried about her terribly after her parents had both passed and was so proud of her strength and compassion. He also absolutely loved the thoughtful gifts and delicious treats she would send him. He never did meet a half-moon cookie he didn’t like!
A very special thank you to his Unadilla family, John & JoAnn Kishbaugh and family, and Connie & Tom Birdsall and family. Terry treasured the many memories made over the past 55 or so years and considered himself to be truly blessed to have been part of such an amazing family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Terry’s behalf to Veterans Residential Services of Wilson, 2500 Nash Street, Suite E, Wilson, NC 27896. Cremation services were provided by the National Cremation Service, Raleigh, NC. A private celebration of Terry’s life will be held at a later date as he requested.
