Susan Ann Chubb (nee Green), 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the home of her loving daughter Lesleigh on January 18th, 2023. Known to everyone as Suzanne, she will be sorely missed by all who had the fortune of having her presence brighten their lives. Her infectious laughter, typical of the Green girls, will no longer lighten our days. While attending the University of Florida, she met a widower, John Chubb, on a blind date. He had two young sons and she fell in love with them as quickly as she did with him. They were married in 1971, and she raised the two boys as her own. Later, they happily increased the family to include a daughter, Lesleigh. Her memory as their mother will always be cherished by her children, regardless of whether or not she gave birth to them. She had varying interests including art, gardening, sports, musical theater, and traveling. She was a talented painter and a hilarious storyteller. She enjoyed playing team tennis with her husband in the local league in Oakland, NJ. She lived the better part of three decades in the northern climes of NJ, Kalamazoo, MI, and Berlin, NH, spending the endless winters gazing out at vast carpets of snow, pining for her native South. She finally got back down there when she and her husband retired to Orange Park, FL in 1999, reuniting with her baby sister, Maureen. She also indulged a lifelong passion for the Red Sox, and was one of few people on the planet to have been present to see both Bucky Dent's home-run in the 163rd playoff game at Fenway in 1978, and to witness the ball roll between Bill Buckner's legs in the 6th game of the 1986 World Series against the Mets at Shea. Her family takes comfort in knowing that, as a Red Sox fan, she has suffered enough, her purgatory has been served, and she will go straight to Heaven. Preceded by many years in death by her beloved son Mark, and her brother Jim, she is survived by her loving husband, John; her two children, Lesleigh and Stephen, and their spouses, Jonathan and Nuria; and her three grandchildren Aurelia Cooper, Emma Chubb, and Lucas Chubb. She also leaves behind her dear sisters Maureen, Elaine and Francille, brother Tim, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
