Born on December 4, 1939, Rose grew up in West New York, New Jersey, and spent most of her life in Congers, New York, where she and her husband, John, raised their family and built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. During the last seven years, Rose made her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she enjoyed being closer to family.
Rose was the beloved wife of the late John Louis Raquet. She was a devoted mother who loved her children with all her heart and found her greatest joy in her family. Her children were always her greatest blessing, and she treasured every moment spent with them and her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her strength, determination, and courage.
Rose turned her home into a sanctuary of love, creativity, adventure, and community. She welcomed neighborhood children with open arms, endless snacks, and impromptu games around the dinner table. Her nurturing spirit extended to all living things; she filled her home with beloved family pets and her backyard with bird feeders, creating a haven where wildlife—including raccoons and her beloved wild turkey, Tom—always seemed to feel at home.
Her family also remains profoundly grateful for the 35 extra years they shared with her after her first cancer diagnosis. Time and again, Rose faced cancer with remarkable resilience, overcoming it six times with unwavering courage—a true testament to her extraordinary strength and determination.
In the later years of her life, Rose renewed her faith in Jesus Christ. She found comfort in God’s promises, strength through prayer, and peace in knowing she was deeply loved by her Savior. Her family is comforted by the assurance that she is now free from pain, embraced by the Lord she trusted, and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
Rose was predeceased by her father, Michael DiPalma; her mother, Olga Zeman DiPalma; her brothers, Angelo, Michael, and Anthony; and her great-grandmother, Rose Maraia DiPalma.
Rose is survived by her children: John (Linda); Robert (Liz); Michael (Nancy); and Nicole; and by her cherished grandchildren: Nick, Brandon (Marisa), Matthew, Meghan, and Kaitlyn.
A Celebration of Rose’s Life will be held on August 29th in New York. Details will be announced by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor Rose’s memory do so by sharing God’s love with others, cherishing time with family, and keeping her loved ones in their prayers.
