Richard Edwin Habegger, 80, resident of Fuquy-Vanina, NC went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2024 surrounded by his family at home. His death was attributed to Dementia. A son of the late Ivan and Pauline Habegger. He was born July 19, 1943 in Bluffton, IN. In 1961, he joined the Air Force because, according to him, he could never go to college and was honorably discharged in 1965.
On February 10, 1968, he married the love of his life, Louise Grabham. They just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past February. Richard is survived by his wife, Louise Habegger; daughters Susan Bok (Brian) of Cumming, GA and Amy Duffield (Mark) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and son David Habegger (Aimee) of Loxahatchee, FL. He has nine grandchildren: Ryan, Justin (Izzy), William, Brandon, Haley, Zachary, Luke, Riley, and Kiley. He is also survived by his brother David (Linda) Habegger of Villages, FL and sister Ann Mares (late George) of LaPorte, IN.
In 1965, Rick moved to Plantation, FL where despite his belief that he would never go to college, he attended Broward Community College, Florida Atlantic University, and received his Masters degree from Nova University. He worked for Florida Power and Light for 29 years before starting his own Human Resource consulting firm specializing in Nuclear Energy.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had a passion for Evangelism and telling others about Jesus. He was an avid runner until he got older. Undoubtedly the best part of his life was being a grandfather. He told everyone about his grandkids. He would’ve loved being a great grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
